Job Summary: National Power is seeking a skilled and dedicated OSP Civil Technician with heavy machinery experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of outside plant infrastructure, including fiber optic and copper cables. This role requires a strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction practices, and telecommunications standards.

- Installation and Maintenance: Install, maintain, and repair OSP infrastructure, including fiber optic and copper cables, conduits, and related equipment
- Site Surveys: Conduct site surveys to assess project requirements and determine the best installation methods
- Construction Supervision: Oversee and coordinate construction activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety standards
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities. Prepare reports and update project documentation as needed
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to OSP infrastructure, including signal loss, physical damage, and connectivity problems
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and best practices to ensure a safe working environment. Participate in safety training and drills
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other technicians to ensure successful project completion. Communicate effectively with team members and clients
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in OSP installation and maintenance
- Heavy machinery experience required
- Experience with fiber optic and copper cable systems is highly desirable
- Skills:
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
- Strong understanding of telecommunications standards and construction practices
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials, up to 75 pounds
- Comfortable with climbing ladders, poles, and other structures to install and maintain OSP infrastructure
- Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling to perform tasks such as cable splicing, conduit installation, and equipment maintenance
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to handle small tools and components
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow
- Ability to work long hours and perform physically demanding tasks
- Strong awareness of safety protocols and the ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to drive company vehicles to and from job sites.

- Backhoes: Versatile equipment for digging, lifting, and moving materials
- Bulldozers: Used for pushing large quantities of soil, sand, and other materials
- Trenchers: Used for digging narrow trenches for laying cables and conduits
- Loaders: Used for loading and transporting materials
- Dump Trucks: Essential for transporting construction materials and debris
- Cranes: Used for lifting and moving heavy loads
- Compactors: Used for compacting soil and asphalt to ensure a solid foundation
